The Network of EU IFIs nominates new leadership

Sander van Veldhuizen has been unanimously elected as Chair of the Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions (IFIs). Sander van Veldhuizen is Programme Leader at the CPB - Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis and was already acting Chair. At the same meeting Sebastian Barnes, Acting Chair at the Irish Fiscal Council (IFC), was appointed Deputy Chair of the Network.

In the words of Mr Van Veldhuizen: 'I am looking forward to leading the Network of EU Independent Fiscal Institutions (IFIs) during this challenging period for fiscal policy as result of Covid-19, where our institutions are working hard to provide independent analysis of the budgetary situation in our countries.'

Mr Van Veldhuizen and Mr Barnes will represent the common interest of the Network's members and work closely with the secretariat to provide strategic guidance, to liaise with key partners such as the European Fiscal Board or the OECD and promote the exchange of views and expertise among all members of the Network.
